Who We Are

Share |

Leeds REACH are a voluntary organisation delivering services to young people who live in Leeds. We are a registered charity with annual open access AGMs and regular open information forums for local community participation. The service was set up in 1994 and was endorsed by the local community and families in response to the numbers of young people living within the area that were facing difficulties in mainstream school.

Young people attending the service may be less likely to make effective use of local authority schemes and/or school learning support units. Upon agreement it may be deemed in the best interest for the young person to have a period of time out of the school and engage in our ‘off site education provision’. The service offers support to young people between the ages of (11-16) years with a particular focus on those currently in key stage 3/4 (Years 9 & 10). Attendees are given the opportunity to achieve academic success as well as discussing and implementing coping strategies that will enable them to fulfill their potential.

The families of the young people attending Leeds REACH benefit from our close working relationship and mentoring that reinforces positive behaviour and promotes inclusion. Schools and Youth Services benefit from our critical support and experience of working with young people. The local community benefit from knowing that young people within our care are being supported to make positive contributions. It also helps to raise the profile of the local community allowing residents to recognise that ‘grassroots’ services can help to make a better future for the young people and parents living within the surrounding areas.
